In the next video, we are going to connect out /planets endpoint to our frontend! Just for a reference, the area of the code on the front end that we want to populate is the dropdown menu for the exoplanets.

Additional Science Note

It’s astronomy time! In the next video you’ll notice the use of a few different terms and symbols.

• Solar Mass measures the amount of total matter that exists in the star our Kepler planet is orbiting. The Kepler planet’s version of our Sun. It is measured in units of M☉ which is equivalent to the mass of the Earth’s Sun in kilograms.
• Solar Radius measures the size of the star. It is measured in units of R☉ which is equivalent to the size of the Earth’s Sun in km.
• Planetary Radius measures the size of the Kepler planet. It is measured in units of R⊕ which is equivalent to the Earth’s size in km.

When we say, for example, 0.50 R⊕ < Planetary Radius < 1.50 R⊕ we are really saying “the Planetary Radius of our Kepler planet must be greater than 0.5 times the Planetary Radius of Earth, but less than 1.5 times the Planetary Radius of Earth."
